Casa Polanco

Mexico City

Originally built as a family residence in the 1940s, this elegant house has been thoughtfully restored into a boutique property in the prestigious Polanco district of Mexico City. The atmosphere is warm and residential, with inviting spaces such as a cosy library filled with velvet sofas, a restaurant reserved only for in-house guests and an honesty bar. With only 19 individually designed rooms, it offers an intimate setting for lovers of design, culture, and sophistication - making it an excellent option for a luxury holiday to Mexico City. The hotel balances the comfort of a private residence with the service and amenities of a five-star stay, all just steps from Lincoln Park.

Accommodation

The 19 rooms and suites each carry a distinct character. Every floor is defined by a unique colour palette, complemented by walnut wood floors and bespoke textiles designed for Casa Polanco. Custom furniture referencing 1940s design is combined with pieces by Mexican artisan Alfonso Marina, while Egyptian cotton linens, woven in Switzerland and finished in Mexico. Each room comes with a TV, Bang & Olufsen speakers, minibar, Nespresso coffee machine, bathrobes and Xinu bath products, polishing off the luxurious feel.

Food and Drink

La Veranda, set beneath a glass-roofed atrium, serves as the property’s dining hub. Breakfast combines buffet selections with à la carte dishes, while afternoons invite guests to enjoy tea, an aperitif, or a quiet moment on the sofas. Reserved exclusively for residents and their guests, the restaurant offers a relaxed but refined setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Experiences

On-site, guests can enjoy yoga, pilates, or meditation, unwind with a massage, or spend a quiet afternoon in the library. Beyond the property, Polanco offers a vibrant mix of high-end shopping, acclaimed restaurants, and cultural institutions, including Museo Soumaya. Lincoln Park is moments away, while wider Mexico City invites further discovery.

Children

Families with children are welcome, although the atmosphere is better suited to couples or groups of friends.

Sustainability

Casa Polanco does not operate a formal sustainability program. However, its thoughtful restoration preserved the original mansion’s structure, and interiors highlight Mexican design and craftsmanship. Locally made products, such as Alfonso Marina furniture and Xinú bath amenities, bring an authentic connection to place.

Best time to Visit

Mexico City can be visited year-round, but the most pleasant months are March to April and October to November, when skies are clear and temperatures are mild. Summer (June to September) is the rainy season, with afternoon showers, while winter months are cooler and drier.

How to get there

Mexico City International Airport is approximately 40 minutes by car, traffic permitting.

Why we recommend Casa Polanco

What makes Casa Polanco so special is the sense of character infused into every corner. Once a private residence, the family spent four years lovingly restoring it into a beautiful boutique sanctuary, offering calm and comfort amidst the city’s bustle. This intimate property feels like a true home away from home, with an art-lined entrance hall, a cosy restaurant reserved for in-house guests, and an honesty bar where guests can help themselves at any time of the day.
