COMO Cocoa Island in the Maldives is a small, private island resort offering the ultimate in barefoot luxury. Situated on Makunufushi, part of the South Malé atoll, it’s located just 40 minutes from Malé by speedboat.
The minimalist style of this property produces an instant feeling of calm and well-being. The rooms are all reached via wooden jetties reaching out over the lagoon, and there are steps from each one leading down into the sea. The décor is simple and stylish with cotton drapes, whitewashed walls, all mod cons, and even flip-flops are provided.
Ufaa is the resort's main restaurant and specializes in Southeast Asian and Mediterranean dishes. Faru is Cocoa Island's only bar, boasting amazing sea and sunset views.
The acclaimed COMO Shambhala Retreat Spa offers treatments and therapies based on natural Asian traditions. Alternatively, guests can just relax on the white sand beach or by the impressive swimming pool.

Location & Getting There
Located in the South Male Atoll beside some of the world's best beaches, COMO Cocoa Island is a 40-minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport.
The 33 overwater suites and villas are interconnected by wooden walkways built above the shallow lagoon, and each has a private terrace. The Dhoni Suites stand out for their generous indoor sitting area with private sundecks; Loft Villas also feature private sundecks, as well as full-length windows overlooking the Indian Ocean and an airy sitting area below the elevated loft; the two COMO Villas are each approached by a private jetty, and feature a terrace, balconies on either side to allow direct access to the lagoon and personalised butler service.
The diving conditions at COMO Cocoa Island are fantastic given its proximity to Male, with 20 different dive sites in the area. On the eastern side of the island, the reefs are perfect for those who prefer snorkelling. There is also windsurfing and sailing on offer at the watersports centre. Other activities available include deep-sea fishing, island-hopping trips and sunset cruises.
While children are allowed at COMO Coco Island, due to the fact that all the accommodation is overwater, they are not encouraged.
The COMO Cocoa Island is Lightfoot Travel Director Lucy Jackson’s favorite hotel in the Maldives – not a statement to be taken lightly! An absolute showstopper of sandy perfection, alongside the total tranquillity of this property you’ll also find some of the world’s best beaches, snorkeling, and diving with more than twenty different dive sites in the area.
