HERITAGE VACATIONS THAT FAMILIES WILL LOVE

For the perfect Egyptian adventure back in time and sail down the Nile in Egypt upon a traditional felucca. Visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, take a tour of Cairo’s bustling old bazaar and then make a stop at the Egyptian Museum. Here the kids can take a peek at the treasures from Tutankhamen’s tomb and spy a room filled with mummies.

Leave the glitz of Dubai behind and travel to the wilds of Oman. This land of wadis, dunes, mountains and quiet coves is an idyllic hideaway. Travel to the Wahiba Sands where kids will have fun dining between the dunes and spending the night in a Bedouin tent. Then head up high into the Al Hajar Mountains to join the butterfly trail at Alila Jabal Akhdar (main image) or discover the ancient town of Nizwa. Kids can see the historic mudbrick homes and visit the famed goat auction on a Friday. Just make sure that you don’t raise your hand and come home with one.

Little Lara Crofts and Indiana Jones’ are sure to adore a trip to Cambodia. Here they can tour ancient temples in the jungle and see the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat. They can also learn how to cook Khmer dishes at lunchtime and learn more about the history of Cambodia with a trip to the innovative Phare circus.

Visit the latest site to join the UNESCO World Heritage List – Bagan Temple. Tots can see more than 2,000 temples and if you have older kids you can even enjoy a balloon ride over the picturesque landscape. You can also take a trip to the Kalaw Cave Temple and visit Inle Lake where kids can see houses built on stilts and the athletic fishermen who steer their boats and haul in their catch whilst balancing on one leg.

If the food doesn’t win you over, the landscape definitely will. Let the kids enjoy the golden age of travel and take the Victoria Express Train to the mountainous region of Sapa. Here they can see the striking Black H’mong and Red H’mong people stroll along the streets on the way to tending their buffalo.
