Jo Upcraft

Content Editor (SG)

It was Jo’s love of travel that brought her to Singapore seven years ago while on a grown-up gap year. After discovering history in Ho Chi Minh cityculture in Siem Reap, temples in Laos and nightlife in Bangkok, she found herself on the Red Dot and made it her home.

Before joining Lightfoot Travel as Content Editor, British-born Jo spent 20 years as a journalist and editor on women’s magazines, newspapers and websites in London, Dubai and Asia. Her roles enabled her to enjoy lots of travel: chasing celebrities in Japan, exploring Mayan ruins in Mexico, going white water rafting in Australia and tea picking in Sri Lanka.

However, it’s being by the sea that Jo really loves, and it's here you'll find her, writing about travel adventures and experiences for Lightfoot.

Jo Upcraft’s Picks

Hotel Zighy Bay, Oman. Set on the beach and enveloped by the dramatic cliffs of the Musandam peninsula, the surroundings are incredible and the hotel even more so. The private villas are beautifully styled with private pools and lounge decks, and I even had my own personal massage room.

Attraction The Great Wall of China, Beijing. I visited on a snowy but sunny January day and it was incredible. As I walked along those ancient cobbled stones I felt like a very small person in a huge, remarkable world.

Memory Watching my first Thai sunset 18 years ago. I'd booked a one-way flight to Bangkok and headed straight for Koh Phangan. It was so stunning that I burst into tears as the sky went from dazzling orange to pink!
