Kulu Safaris

Kulu Safaris operate mobile tented camping safaris in Sri Lanka, combining professional guides and luxury camping facilities all deep within the National Parks of Yala, Uda Walawe, and Wilpattu.

The tents provide a queen size bed, hot water showers, and a separate loo tent, and there is a verandah for you to relax on outside of your tent after a day spent exploring some of the most fascinating national parks of Sri Lanka, abundant with wildlife – including leopards, elephants and bears and not to mention some spectacular bird watching.

Despite the remoteness of the camping locations, the food is excellent. Meals are cooked in customized kitchens with sufficient fridge and freezer capacity to ensure you receive that ice-cold beer right on time! A separate tent serves as your 'living room'.

The 4WD vehicles have been adapted to suit wildlife watching and photography. Uda Walawe is known for its vast herds of elephant and Wilpattu is home to the highest density of mammals in Sri Lanka, particularity the elusive leopard. For birders, there is a high number of wetland birds such as Lesser Flamingoes, Pelicans, Spoonbills, and Painted Storks. If you have a specific interest, Kulu Safaris are more than happy to put together a personalized itinerary and a certain guide for you to maximize your experience whilst on safari.

Location & Getting There
Kulu Safaris has luxury camping facilities deep within Yala National Park, a 7-hour drive from Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport, or a 3.5-hour drive to Galle, and Udawalawe or Wilpattu National Park, which is a 4-hour drive from Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport.

Accommodation
The 5 South African tents provide a queen size bed, hot water shower facilities, separate loo tent, outdoor verandah with comfortable chairs, and a separate tent that serves as a living room. All tents are equipped with mosquito nets and proper lighting, with some providing the option of bunks for children sleeping together. Some tents have to air-condition while some are open-aired.

Activities
Guests are able to explore some of the most fascinating national parks of Sri Lanka, abundant with wildlife such as leopards, elephants, bears, and over 100 species of birds. Board the comfortable 4WD vehicles for game drives to spot wildlife under the guidance of expert trackers.

Children
Recommended for ages 8 and above, however, there are no specific facilities available.
