Six Senses Paro
Paro, Thimphu & PunakhaSet high above the valley, with uninterrupted views across layered fields, forested peaks and distant Himalayan ridges, Six Senses Paro is the most elevated and arguably the most scenic of the brand’s five Bhutan lodges. Built on the site of an abandoned 16th-century fortress and just above the National Museum, the lodge, nicknamed “Stone Ruins”, is both peaceful and commanding. With its crisp mountain air and sweeping vistas, it offers the perfect finale or beginning to a journey through Bhutan.
Accommodation
The lodge’s suites and villas are designed to maximise the extraordinary setting, with locally cut stone, dark wood accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto views of the valley below. Rooms feel cocooning yet spacious, with traditional bukhari stoves and calming, earth-toned interiors that reflect the natural world outside.
Food & Drink
Dining here makes the most of Paro’s alpine freshness. Whether you're enjoying a simple breakfast on the terrace or a candlelit dinner among the ruins, meals are a celebration of Bhutanese flavours made with ingredients from the lodge's own gardens or nearby farms. Don’t miss the destination dining experiences, which make full use of the lodge’s dramatic position.
Sustainability
Six Senses Paro follows Bhutan’s national ethos of Gross National Happiness with a sustainability approach that’s quietly embedded into daily operations. The lodge works closely with local communities, prioritises low-impact materials, and supports environmental conservation in one of the country’s most biodiverse valleys.
Experiences
A stay here brings you within reach of Bhutan’s most iconic landmark: the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The hike to this sacred site, clinging to a sheer cliff at 2,950 metres, is as spiritual as it is awe-inspiring. But Paro offers far more than just one view. There are gentle valley walks, mountain ridge hikes, visits to the impressive Paro Dzong and National Museum, and time spent wandering the traditional main street of Paro town all give insight into Bhutan’s cultural richness. If you're lucky, you may spot the tracks of a mountain leopard or hear the calls of langurs echoing through the forest.

We love Six Senses Paro for its commanding position above the valley—sunrises here are genuinely breathtaking, with the clouds drifting low over the fields and the mountains glowing pink in the morning light. There’s a sense of stillness and scale that makes it feel like you're staying somewhere truly rare, where the view itself becomes part of the experience.
