The Outpost

Swedish Lapland

The Outpost Lodge was once a grocery store in the quaint village of Mårdsel, near the Swedish Arctic Circle, that has undergone an impressive renovation to meet high standards of luxury. It is located near the Rane River and in complete wilderness, with incredible access to the Arctic Circle and surrounded by complete peace and quiet.

The 1st-floor suite features 3 bedrooms (double or twin), a bathroom, and a cosy lounge with a fireplace, bar, vinyl player, hi-fi speaker, musical instruments, a large flat-screen TV, and various board games and cards for socializing.

The ground-floor suite includes 2 large bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a combined dining/bar/lounge area. Your host, also the chef, will prepare meals each evening. If booking a suite separately, you can choose to dine with other guests or have a private dinner in your suite.

The lodge is ideal for families with children of all ages.

How to Get There

Private transfers from Luleå Airport take 1.5 hours. Guests arriving by train can also take transfers from Boden or Murjek train stations.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is from December to March, though it’s available most of the year.

Sustainability

The lodge prioritizes using local produce whenever possible and partners with local suppliers and community guides.

Why we recommend The Outpost

"The Outpost is a private lodge in the complete wilderness of Swedish Lapland in a small village with a population of only seven people. It is an excellent snowmobile location, and you can even snowmobile to the Arctic Circle monument. The service is great with private hosts and chef to look after all your needs"
