Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking a waterhole and the plains and bushveld below, Leopard Hills lodge began operating in 1998, and stands in a private 10,000 hectare (25,000 acre) game reserve of the same name.
The lodge’s eight suites are fronted with floor-to-ceiling glass, leading out onto a private sundeck with plunge pool, hammock and loungers, all overlooking the bushveld beyond. In the beautifully decorated main camp area, bold zebra prints and atmospheric lighting make for a relaxing and contemporary environment. The open-air viewing deck and veranda are the ideal spot for al fresco drinks and dining, and for sightings of game coming to drink or bathe in the waterhole below.
Dining is a silver service affair with sweeping bush views and a real sense of occasion. If, however, you prefer something more informal, opt for a bush supper around the fire or a private dinner on your suite’s sundeck.
The spectacularly scenic backdrop to Leopard Hill’s spa and gym makes any workout a pleasurable experience. The glass-fronted ‘sala’ means that your bush massage treatments will come with a view, too.
