5 WILDLIFE HONEYMOONS TO LOVE

From the moment you float into the skies on a hot-air balloon at sunrise, you will know that this trip is going to be pretty special. For if you book your honeymoon during April, May and June or November and December, you have a strong chance of seeing this incredible spectacle, which is the annual wildebeest migration.

For the ultimate wildlife break, combine a trip to Zimbabwe and Zambia in one vacation. Start your honeymoon at Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe where you can join a guide on a walking safari through an area that has one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. But as soon as you arrive at your camp you will realise that you don’t have to go far to see wildlife as elephants can often be spotted around the waterhole in front of your camp. Then fly to Zambia and take a cruise down the Zambezi River where you can spy hippos, crocodiles and masses of birds.

For a magical trip to Sri Lanka visit the colonial city of Galle, the misty tea plantations of Kandy, then go on safari. Visit Yala National Park to see elephants roaming free, monkeys and even a leopard or two if you are lucky. And if you stop by Colombo, you can even visit an elephant sanctuary and join one of its pachyderms for a walk.

Fly to Kangaroo Island to see some of Australia’s most unique creatures. Here you’ll find echidnas, koalas and of course kangaroos. Book into Southern Ocean Lodge, which has attracted the likes of Brad Pitt and offers jawdropping views of the ocean. If you have more time, you can then fly to the Blue Mountains and then the Great Barrier Reef.

Enjoy a speedboat or seaplane ride to your resort then pull on your wetsuit and explore the reefs filled with clown fish, parrot fish and manta rays. Then when the sun is setting, go on a cruise to spot dolphins playing in the surf.
