La Lancha

Only an hour away from the magnificent ruins of Tikal in Guatemala, La Lancha is perched above Lake Peten, amidst the lush rainforest. Being one of Francis Ford Coppola's properties, you can expect a touch of glamour and luxury in the middle of the jungle.

There are only 10 rooms at La Lancha, and each of the comfortable thatched casitas and suites come with panoramic views of the lake or jungle. The rooms feature rustic luxe in Guatemalan style with locally handcrafted crafts and hammocks on balconies, perfect for an afternoon nap. The addition of rainforest junior suites offers couples on honeymoon maximum privacy while overlooking the lake.

The open-air restaurant at La Lancha serves authentic Guatemalan dishes such as grilled beef tenderloin with peppercorn sauce and Suban Ik, or ‘God’s meal’, a traditional dish with meat and spices.

Take the opportunity to dip into the cooling waters of the lake. For those who prefer, there’s a pool on the property with impressive views. Swimming, kayaking, and boating from the hotel's pier is fun after an early exploration of Tikal. La Lancha is a 45-minute drive away from Mundo Maya International Airport, in the city of Flores, Guatemala.

With only 10 rooms at La Lancha, guests can be assured that service will be top-notch. All rooms feature balconies with hammocks for sleepy afternoons, or for spotting howler monkeys in the trees. The lake view suites come with a spacious covered deck for taking in the stunning views of the lake. For couples looking for a romantic getaway, the rainforest junior suites are a ravine away from the other rooms, offering even more seclusion. With a living area and an expansive living deck, the junior suites can also accommodate a family of four.

Activities
Guests of La Lancha can enjoy horseback riding and swim in the waters of Lake Peten (which are said to contain magical powers). La Lancha also offers complimentary use of canoes to explore the lake. La Lancha’s jungle setting high above Lake Peten is the perfect base to explore the wildlife in the jungle as well as the ruins of Tikal and other nearby Mayan sites.

Children
The rugged terrain of the property is not ideal for young children but children below 12 years old can stay for free. Babysitting services are also available.
