Islas Secas

Panama

Set across 14 rugged islets off Panama’s Pacific coast, Islas Secas sleeps just 24 guests in a series of simple, ocean-view casitas and one private villa. The resort is fully solar-powered and led by a conservation ethos, protecting native forests and marine ecosystems. Communal spaces include an open-air dining pavilion, a plunge pool and a relaxing lounge – all naturally integrated into the island landscape.

Accommodation

There are seven casitas (one-, two- and four-bedroom) and the four-bedroom Casa Cavada villa. Each offers airy indoor-outdoor living, private plunge pools or tubs, soaking showers and ocean terraces. Furnishings are clean and coastal – canopy beds, teak decks, crisp linens – the kind of luxury that feels gracious, not showy.

Food and Drink

Dining is a shared affair at the sand-seat pavilion, where menus change daily with local seafood, tropical produce and regional dishes. Beachside barbecues, sunset cocktails, and picnic lunches are part of the rhythm. Casual snacks are available throughout the day, and drinks (from local rums to house wines) are included in an all-inclusive rate.

Experiences

The all-inclusive take means guests can dive, snorkel, fish, kayak and paddleboard at will. Marine safaris, bushwalking and whale-watching (July–September) complement spa treatments, yoga sessions, nature cruises and boat trips into Coiba National Park. All trips are expertly guided and steer clear of scripted excursions.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome. Casita Grande provides family-friendly space and connecting rooms, while the island’s natural playground – tidal pools, wildlife, trails – keeps younger guests engaged. Supervision is required in undeveloped areas and around private pools.

Sustainability

Built entirely on solar power, the resort recycles water, composts waste, bans single-use plastics and sources local materials. The Islas Secas Foundation protects over 750 marine and 50 bird species, rehabilitates mangroves and supports coastal communities through conservation education.

How to Get There

Reaching Islas Secas is part of the adventure. Scheduled Twin-Otter flights operate 3–4 times a week from Panama City to the resort's private airstrip on the main island (approx. 70 minutes). From there, it's a short transfer to the casitas. Alternatively, guests arriving into David – a regional city in western Panama – can take a scenic 45 to 75-minute boat ride directly to the dock. VIP airport assistance is provided for all arrivals.

Why we recommend Islas Secas

Islas Secas offers a rare private-island escape – a remote archipelago of 14 volcanic isles with just seven casitas and one grand villa. We love its barefoot-luxe blend of untamed wildness, commitment to conservation and relaxed simplicity, surrounded by the Pacific.
