The Sun House

Galle Fort

The Sun House epitomises is the original boutique hotel in Sri Lanka, with exquisite and eclectic style and second-to-none service. Located just a five-minute stroll from Galle Fort, The Sun House is the perfect relaxing base to explore this magical and historical area of Sri Lanka.

Once the home of a Scottish spice merchant, this original house was built in the 1860s and has been converted into a small hotel with 8 bedrooms. The building has been fully renovated and retains all of its original charm, with a large central living area at the heart of the house. Rooms are tastefully furnished with tiled flooring, a clothes rack, mosquito net, and a seating area.

Delicious fusion cuisine is served at The Gallean, the property’s restaurant and bar, where meals can be enjoyed in the dining room, on one of the house’s airy verandahs, or under the mango tree in the garden.

There are also two tropical gardens: the frangipani garden leading to the swimming pool, and the mango garden which has views of Galle’s coastline.

On a hillside a quick 5-minute walk from Galle Fort. Approx. 2 hours drive from Bandaranaike International Airport.
