Chaa Creek

Set along the banks of the Macal River in Belize, Chaa Creek is located in the heart of wildlife, making it an incredible destination for nature lovers.

There are 23 cottages scattered among the sprawling gardens of this 400-acre private nature reserve. Each individually designed palm-thatched cottage is decorated with handcrafted furniture, colourful fabrics and textiles to blend in with the jungle surroundings and the local culture. Offering pods, cottages and villas with a private pool and jacuzzi, there’s something for all tastes.

Chaa Creek comes with all the amenities needed for a perfect vacation. The bi-level freshwater infinity pool was designed with families in mind to allow for both swimming and paddling. There is also a spacious lounging space for sun lovers.

The Hilltop Spa sits above the Macal River and promises personalised soothing al fresco massages. An advocate for sustainable tourism, Chaa Creek sources most of its food produce from its own organic Maya farm, which guests can visit, bringing it from the farm to your table.

The property also houses a Natural History Centre, Butterfly Farm and horse stables.

Location & Getting There

Chaa Creek is located at the foothills of the Maya Mountains and a short drive from San Ignacio Town, Belize. From Philip Goldson Airport, guests can take a two-hour car ride to the property.

At Chaa Creek, there are 23 thatched cottages ranging from pods, cottages, suites and three-bedroom villas. All come with stunning views of the expansive grounds of the property or the Macal River. The treetop villa, which sleeps four, is ideal for families looking for an edenistic getaway. Villas come with al fresco showers, private plunge pools and sundecks. The Chel Luxury Rainforest Villas blend beautifully into Chaa Creek’s existing property and are specifically designed for families, couples or friends to mingle while enjoying intimacy and privacy in a rainforest setting.

There’s an array of activities for all ages at Chaa Creek. Kids can look forward to horseback riding, child-friendly jungle safaris and visiting the butterfly farm; while adults can enjoy the spa with panoramic views. For adventure seekers, a stay at Chaa Creek provides the opportunity to explore the ancient Maya city with its myriad of temples and palaces. The nature reserve within the property can be explored on foot, horseback or on a canoe as you paddle down the Macal River and watch the jungle float by.

Children are most welcome at Chaa Creek. Baby-sitting services are available. Those up to 18 stay for free and can enjoy a variety of complimentary activities.
