Ishasha Wilderness Camp

Uganda

Set on the densely wooded banks of the Ntungwe River, Ishasha Wilderness Camp offers a comfortable retreat in the Ishasha sector of Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park. This unspoilt area is renowned for its excellent wildlife, including tree-climbing lions and numerous bird species.

Accommodation is in ten spacious canvas-tented rooms, each with a private veranda overlooking the river. The comfortable beds are swathed in mosquito netting, and there’s a dressing area and en suite with solar-powered shower and eco-flush toilet.

Meals are home-cooked and served in the dining room or on the riverbank. There’s also a bar offering front-row seats to observe wildlife, including elephants bathing in the river.

As the only camp in the national park, guests have uninterrupted views of wildlife on morning and afternoon game drives, and bush breakfasts or sundowners can be arranged at a suitable viewing point. Chimpanzee trekking, community visits, birdwatching and cruising the Kazinga Channel are also on offer.
