Grootbos Forest Lodge

Grootbos Forest Lodge is situated on Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in the Gansbaai area, just 160km from Cape Town. This multi-award-winning reserve is home to protected Fynbos as well as the largest Milkwood Forests in the world and is highly acclaimed for its conservation and social responsibility programs.

The 16 freestanding one-bedroom suites are set in tranquil surroundings, connected by winding pathways through the ancient Milkwood Forest. Decorated in a modern contemporary style, they feature a lounge with a fireplace, and the spacious bedrooms come with en suite bathrooms boasting double showers and oversized bathtubs.

Red Indigo restaurant with its striking contemporary design presents delicious fine dining. Head out on to the wide deck in the open air or sit inside and marvel at the views as you eat.

Activities for children include adventures on the beach and at the rock pools, treasure hunts and horseback rides, all hosted by experienced guides. Other eco-friendly activities include nature drives and hikes to explore the plants and archaeological caves, birding, whale watching and even spotting the rare African Penguin.

Location & Getting There

Grootbos Forest Lodge is situated on Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in the Gansbaai area, less than a two-hour drive away from Cape Town International Airport.

Accommodation

The estate comprises of the Garden Lodge, Forest Lodge and Villa. The Garden Lodge has 11 suites surrounded by nature in the ancient Milkwood forest, each featuring a private deck that provides fantastic views of the greenery and ocean in a distance. The 16 free-standing luxury suites of Forest Lodge are also nestled in the Milkwood forest, featuring spacious wooden decks perched over the forest canopy, with a Luxury Pool suite boasting an additional private plunge pool. The Villa is the most exclusive offering, a luxurious accommodation for up to 12 guests, featuring spacious living spaces, private guide, chef and butler, sheltered courtyards, as well as decks which provide vistas of Walker Bay and the Hermanus mountains in the distance.

Activities

Grootbos Forest Lodge offers horse riding, guided walks or drives in the reserve. Other activities at an additional cost include whale watching, great white shark cage diving, boat activities, wine tours, bird watching, scenic flights, horse riding and in-room beauty and massage treatments.
