Ultimate Week Safari in Zimbabwe & Zambia

“Reconnect with nature and soak up the diverse wildlife and magnificent landscapes that Zimbabwe and Zambia have to offer. This itinerary invites you on a wildlife adventure and provides the opportunity to witness incredible numbers of Africa’s most-feted wild mammals.”

Day 1
1 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 1
Arrival in Zimbabwe

Upon arrival at Victoria Falls you’ll be met by a representative who’ll assist you with your light aircraft flight to Hwange National Park. Here you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your camp.

After checking in, the remainder of the day will be spent at your leisure. We recommend lounging by the pool, sipping cocktails at the bar and looking out at the beautiful landscape after your long flight.

Day 2
2 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 2
Zimbabwe

Start your holiday with a game drive searching for wildlife. As the private Wilderness Safaris concessions are situated in the most productive area of Hwange National Park, there are many habitats, vegetation types and waterholes which means there’s always something new to be seen.

After returning for lunch at the camp and a few hours at leisure you’ll head out for an evening game drive before returning for sundowners and dinner.

Day 3
3 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 3
Zimbabwe

It’s time to get up close to wildlife at log-pile hide. This hide is placed at the camp’s productive waterhole and is the perfect spot to spend your afternoon siesta. Elephants are often the star attraction here; just beware of sprays of water being propelled from their trunks.

After dinner you’ll search for nocturnal animals on an evening drive. Keep your eyes peeled for lesser bushbaby, spotted hyaena, leopard, lion, Selous mongoose, pangolin, caracal, porcupine, scrub hare, springhare and even honey badger.

Day 4
4 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 4
Zimbabwe

This morning you’ll go on a walking safari. Hwange was proclaimed some 80 years ago and has served as a haven for one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. There’s no better way to experience this park than on foot with an experienced safari guide.

Afterwards, visit a local community and learn more about their culture. This often includes a tour of the school, meeting the headman or headwoman and meeting the villagers.

Day 5
5 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 5
Zimbabwe – Zambia

This morning you’ll be transferred to the airstrip from Little Makalolo for your light aircraft transfer back to Victoria Falls.

Upon arrival in Victoria Falls airport, you’ll be met by your private driver for your onwards private road transfer to Toka Leya Camp.

The remainder of the day will be spent at leisure. We suggest taking a cruise on the Zambezi River. Keep a look out for hippos, crocodiles and masses of birds.

Day 6
6 safari game vehicle and a lion, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Day 6
Zambia

Today will be spent at leisure to enjoy your surroundings.

This is your chance to visit the majestic Victoria Falls, track endangered rhino with local wildlife guides, spot wildlife on a game drive through the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, or try white water rafting, helicopter rides and bungee jumping.

For activities a little less energetic you could learn about history and culture from a local community, plant a tree at the campsite, or enjoy a massage treatment on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Day 7

Day 7
