Ancient Towns & Living Culture of Yunnan, China

Discover a different side of China, where ancient trade routes wind through highland villages and snow-capped peaks rise beyond quiet valleys. This trip through Yunnan takes you from the lakeside elegance of Dali to the cobbled charm of Lijiang, and onward to the Tibetan-influenced town of Shangri-La, with time to experience Kunming’s cultural pulse along the way.

This is a suggested itinerary – we will tailor your route and recommend hotels based on your individual preferences, whether you're travelling as a couple or with your family or friends.

Known as the "Pearl of the Plateau," its calm waters and lakeside parks offer a peaceful start to your journey. Later, wander through Dounan Flower Market, the largest fresh-cut flower market in Asia, where stalls brim with roses, orchids, and local blooms bound for markets across China.

Day 5
Dali to Lijiang via Shaxi Ancient Town

Travel north via Shaxi, a charming old town that once thrived as a caravan stop on the Tea Horse Road. Explore its cobbled market square and visit the sacred grottoes and temples of Shibaoshan (Precious Stone Mountain), hidden in pine forests. Continue to Lijiang by evening.

Day 6

Day 6
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Blue Moon Valley

Ascend to the lower slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Rather than the crowded glacier route, visit Spruce Meadow, a quieter viewpoint surrounded by pristine alpine forest. Walk or shuttle through the turquoise pools of Blue Moon Valley before returning to town.
