Maroma, A Belmond Hotel

Yucatan Peninsula

Tucked between the Caribbean Sea and the jungle of Riviera Maya, Maroma A Belmond Hotel is one of the Mexican Yucatan's most iconic addresses. Its design blends beachside glamour with authentic Mexican craftsmanship, where handwoven textiles, bold tiling and natural woods define the interiors. Following a full renovation, the property now features refreshed oceanfront suites, a wellness partnership with Guerlain, a renewed culinary direction, and a strong focus on sustainability. With three pools, a spa, gym, and complimentary bicycles, Maroma is an exceptional base for a luxury holiday to Mexico – and your pooches are welcome too.

Accommodation

The hotel offers 72 rooms, suites and villas set among jungle and sea. Interiors highlight artisanal design and craftsmanship, combining understated luxury with traditional Mexican details. Each room includes thoughtful touches such as a newspaper service, tea and coffee-making kit, Bluetooth sound-bar, Xinú bath products, air-conditioning and beach essentials.

Food and Drink

Dining is a highlight, with two signature restaurants and a selection of bars. Casa Mayor serves contemporary Mexican cuisine using sustainably sourced Yucatán ingredients, while Woodend by Curtis Stone presents refined open-fire seafood and plant-based dishes with ocean views. Bambuco by Handshake offers an exclusive cocktail experience, while Freddy’s Bar serves beachside refreshments, live music, and light bites, including ceviche and tacos.

Activities

Beyond the hotel’s pools, yoga and the Maroma Spa by Guerlain, Riviera Maya offers remarkable experiences. Guests can explore jungle trails, ancient ruins and nearby cenotes, snorkel or dive the reefs just offshore, or sail by private yacht. PADI certification, deep-sea fishing, whale shark encounters, and seasonal turtle nesting add to the wide range of activities. Excursions to Chichén Itzá, Coba, Tulum and the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve are easily arranged.

Sustainability

Maroma is committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, with initiatives ranging from operating as a smart building to conservation programmes protecting turtles, parrots and melipona bees. The hotel works with local farmers and fishermen to source ingredients sustainably, while collaborating with female artisans on upcycling projects. Sustainability is central to every part of the guest experience.

Children

Families are welcome, making Maroma a strong choice for a luxury family holiday to Mexico.

Best Time to Visit

The Riviera Maya is a year-round destination, but the best weather runs from December to April, with warm, sunny days and little rainfall – perfect for beach time and exploring ruins. May to August brings hotter temperatures and calmer seas, which are excellent for diving and snorkelling. The green season, September to November, is quieter, with occasional tropical showers but lush surroundings and fewer crowds.

How to Get There

Cancun International Airport is just a 35-minute drive away, with connections from international hubs such as Miami, New York and Paris, as well as domestic destinations.
