The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert

Abu Dhabi & the Wider Emirates

Located just outside Dubai, The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert offers a complete contrast to the city’s fast pace. Set within a 500-hectare protected nature reserve, the resort is surrounded by desert landscapes and free-roaming wildlife. The property features 109 private pool villas designed for privacy and space, making it an ideal addition to a luxury holiday to the UAE. It works particularly well as a few days of downtime after time spent exploring Dubai or the wider Emirates.

Accommodation

Inspired by traditional Bedouin architecture, the resort offers five villa categories, each with its own private pool and desert views. Villas feature spacious bedrooms, living areas, ensuite bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the landscape indoors. The resort’s signature villas also include private fitness studios and dedicated Ritz-Carlton butler service.

Food & drink

The resort’s four dining venues range from international dining and relaxed cafés to Michelin-starred experiences and Japanese cuisine at Zuma. Guests can also enjoy drinks and light bites at the Oasis Pool Bar throughout the day. For something extra special, private dining experiences can be arranged in the desert or within the resort’s atmospheric watchtowers.

Experiences

For those looking to fully switch off, the spa offers ten treatment rooms, tailored wellness treatments, a rain mist room and more. Beyond the resort, guests can explore the surrounding desert through guided nature excursions and wildlife experiences. Day trips to the Hajar Mountains, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and local pearl farms can also be arranged.

Children

This is a strong option for families, with a dedicated Ritz Kids Club for children aged 4 to 12, as well as activities designed for older children and teenagers.

Best time to go

The best time to visit Ras Al Khaimah is between October and April, when temperatures are warm but comfortable, typically ranging between 20°C and 30°C. January to March offers the most reliable weather for outdoor activities, while the wider winter season is ideal for beach time, hiking and desert experiences.

How to get there

From Dubai International Airport, the resort is approximately a one-hour private transfer. If you are already staying in Dubai, journey times are typically between one hour and one hour and twenty minutes, depending on your location in the city.
