All 45 villas and residences are built over the water on stilts, designed in an elegant, natural palette of teak, palm and light linens that echo the sea and sand. Food & Drink

Dining at Gili Lankanfushi strikes the balance between destination dining and island informality. Kashiveli is the main restaurant overlooking the water, known for themed evening menus and fresh local seafood prepared with global influences. By The Sea offers Japanese fusion fare in a relaxed, elegant overwater setting, while Fini Foni is a favourite for poolside cocktails and house made ice creams. The Overwater Bar is the go to for sundowners with a view, and the wine list – housed in a cosy cellar – features excellent pairings to match the menu. The resort also places emphasis on destination dining experiences, from private beach barbecues to candlelit suppers on your villa deck.

Experiences

The reef that surrounds the island is a highlight. You can step off your deck and snorkel amongst vibrant coral gardens, turtles and schools of colourful fish. Gili Lankanfushi operates a PADI dive centre, and guided dives and snorkels are available daily. For quieter moments, the Meera Spa sits over the water with glass floor panels so you can see fish gliding below while you’re having your treatment. Sunrise yoga, meditation on the deck, and guided stargazing sessions give a sense of the day slowing down. Land and sea excursions like dolphin cruises, sandbank picnics or boat trips to secret coves are easy to arrange with Mr/Ms Friday.

Children

Children are welcome, though the overwater setup means it’s most suited to families with older kids who are confident in and around water. The resort can tailor activities for young guests, from learning about reef ecology with the marine team to creating mocktails or pizza nights, and two bedroom residences provide space for families travelling together. Best Time to Visit

The Maldives enjoys warm conditions year round. The dry season (Decemeber–April) brings calmer seas, more sunshine and peak visibility for snorkelling and diving. Shoulder months (May/June and October/November) offer lush scenery, great marine life encounters, and fewer other guests.

How to Get There

Gili Lankanfushi is a 20-30 minute speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport (Malé). The short boat ride quickly feels like leaving the everyday world behind.
