Zannier Sonop

Zannier Sonop is an initmate tented desert lodge located at the southern edge of the Namib Desert, offering a distinct take on luxury holidays to Namibia. Perched atop granite boulders, its ten spacious tents evoke the elegance of a 1920s British colonial outpost. The camp is entirely focused on its remarkable setting, with expansive desert views and immersive experiences that highlight the raw beauty of the unique surrounding landscape. Accommodation

The lodge features eight one-bedroom and two two-bedroom tents, each designed to frame panoramic desert views through roll-up canvas walls. Interiors include four-poster king beds, freestanding bathtubs with rain showers, and elegant living spaces with telescopes and antique furnishings. All tents come equipped with WiFi, Nespresso machines, a safe, air conditioning or heating, and the option to convert beds into Hollywood twins.

Food and Drink

Meals are an occasion at Sonop. Mornings begin with à la carte breakfasts, followed by a light lunch in the camp’s central restaurant and poolside refreshments throughout the afternoon. Evenings culminate in a gala style five-course dinner, followed by drinks and games in the Cocktail & Cigar Lounge.

Activities

Guests can explore the private reserve on foot, by electric bike, horseback, or on guided drives to encounter oryx, hyenas, leopards, and more. Optional experiences include hot air balloon rides, nature hikes, and private desert dinners. On-site facilities include a spa, two treatment rooms, a fitness centre, and a heated infinity pool overlooking the dunes.

Sustainability

The lodge operates entirely on solar energy and strongly focuses on water conservation. Greywater is recycled to sustain wildlife and vegetation, and sustainable practices are embedded into daily operations, from eco-friendly cleaning products to regular environmental clean-ups.

Children

For safety reasons, only children aged six and above are permitted at the property.

How to Get There

Zannier Sonop is located 250km from Mariental (approx. 2.5 hours) and 500km from Windhoek (approx. 5 hours) by road. Private transfers can be arranged from Omaanda or nearby airports. The property also has its own airstrip, allowing access via light aircraft from major African hubs. The closest international airport is Windhoek Hosea Kutako, just over an hour’s flight away.
