Tusitiri Dhow

Kenya's Coast

Once a traditional trading vessel, Tusitiri Dhow has been beautifully restored as a private liveaboard, offering exclusive sailing safaris through Kenya’s Lamu archipelago. Chartered in full for up to 10 guests overnight or 25 for day trips, life on board unfolds entirely on deck – cushioned lounging areas, open-air dining, and nights spent sleeping beneath the stars. Promising a unique luxury holiday to Kenya, Tusitiri blends coastal adventure with relaxed, barefoot elegance.

Accommodation

Tusitiri accommodates guests in star beds laid out on deck each evening, complete with crisp white linens and brass lanterns. Below deck, guests have access to dressing rooms, day beds, and shared shower and bathroom facilities, along with space to store belongings in comfort and privacy.

Food & Drink

Meals are prepared in the alfresco galley at the bow and served at the shaded dining table on deck. The atmosphere is informal and sociable, with menus based on fresh seafood, tropical fruits and Swahili flavours. Sundowners are enjoyed on remote beaches or sand dunes, while picnic lunches and candlelit dinners are arranged in ever-changing settings.

Activities

Included experiences range from snorkelling, paddleboarding and deep-sea fishing to sailing between quiet islands and exploring Lamu’s UNESCO-listed old town. Guests can also visit pristine beaches, walk among mangroves, or search for whale sharks during migration season. Water-sports equipment and two speedboats are on hand for daily adventures.

Children

Tusitiri is ideal for families with older children and teenagers. Children under five stay free, but due to the nature of the liveaboard experience, enquiries should be made in advance for younger guests.

Best Time to Go

Tusitiri operates between January and April, and again from August to December. These dry months are ideal for marine activities, sailing, and exploring the coastline.

How to Get There

Guests fly from Nairobi to Lamu’s Manda Airport (approx. 1.5 hours), then transfer by speedboat to Tusitiri’s mooring – just a few minutes away.

Why we recommend Tusitiri Dhow

There is nothing quite like Tusitiri. We love the simplicity of life on board – fresh seafood, sea breezes, and sleeping beneath the stars – as well as the sense of adventure that comes from exploring Kenya’s coast under sail.
