Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa

An exclusive sanctuary in the upmarket residential Johannesburg neighbourhood of Sandhurst, the Saxon Hotel, also comprising Villas and Spa, is a former private mansion, and member of the network of Leading Hotels of the World.

In the main house are 20 Egoli Suites, three presidential suites and the lavish two-bedroom Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite. Meanwhile, in the villas, 21 Villa Egoli Suites have private decks leading into the gardens, and the eight Villa Presidential Suites can be converted to create four two-bedroom Villa Platinum Suites.

The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa’s signature restaurant; Five Hundred, is renowned across Johannesburg and beyond for its superb innovative cuisine and wine cellar. The hotel also has a brasserie-style restaurant, and hosts an extravagant High Tea.

There’s a large swimming pool, and the Saxon Spa and Studio occupies two floors featuring a sundeck, café and a wide range of treatments.

Location & Getting There

Located in upmarket residential Johannesburg, The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa is a 35-minute drive from Oliver Tambo International Airport.

Accommodation

There are 54 guestrooms located in the main house and villas. Luxury rooms have an open plan layout with lounge and dining area, with its shutters opening out to garden views, city skyline or the pool terrace. Executive Luxury rooms feature a dining area too, and its private deck leads to the gardens. One-bedroom suites come with a seating and dining area, entrance hall, separate lounge, fully-equipped butler's kitchen, butler service and private balcony. The Nelson Mandela Presidential suite boast an additional guest suite and a second bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and steam room, on top of the mentioned amenities of the one-bedroom suite.

Activities

Guests can visit Nelson Mandela’s original home, museums, art galleries or other attractions such as the zoo and Gold Reef City. The Shambala Private Game Reserve and the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden are nearby, or for the ultimate urban retreat, visit a safari in the Madikwe & The Waterberg or Sabi Sand regions.

Children

Children under the age of 12 are welcome at the Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa only if a prior arrangement is made.
