Royal Malewane

In South Africa’s northernmost province of Limpopo, Royal Malewane sits among the bushveld of the Thornybush Private Game Reserve in South Africa.

Luxurious and exclusive, it can house twenty guests in its main lodge, which has six double suites and two two-bedroom suites. A few minutes’ drive away are the six-bedroom Africa House, which can house a further twelve people in one private group.

In the main lodge, the six colonial-style suites have their own infinity pools and thatched gazebos. The two-bedroom Royal and Malewane suites have outdoor decks and private pools, plus a chef, butler, guide, tracker, and personal safari vehicle. Each of the six bedrooms in Royal Malewane’s Africa House has four-poster beds, free-standing baths, a private deck, and an outside shower. Rooms are arranged around a central courtyard with a cooling fountain, swimming pool, and veranda.

Eat-in the dining area or lounge, in the Boma, or by lantern-light in the Bedouin tent.

The Royal Malewane Bush Spa has a heated lap pool, Jacuzzi, gym, and private casitas.

Weather
The summer months (September to February) see more rain which means there are more insects about it. Temperatures can be extremely hot and the bush is luxuriant and green which does make game viewing more tricky. However, for bird lovers, there are many more birds to see at this time of year as well as all the migrant species and the bush itself is alive with sounds of crickets, frogs, and birds. There are also many baby animals born around this time which can be the highlight of a game drive.

The winter months (May, June, and July) are a great time for good game viewing as the bush is quieter, drier, and more open. Temperatures are more moderate, and you're more likely to be able to go off-road for close-up viewing (and there are no insects to bother you)!

Children
Children of all ages are welcome in the Royal Suite and the Malewane Suite at Royal Malewane if booked on an all-inclusive basis (i.e. private chef, private butler, 4 complimentary massages, and private game drives).
