Chitwa Chitwa Lodge

Located in the northern wilderness of the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Greater Kruger, South Africa, Chitwa Chitwa Lodge overlooks one of the reserve’s largest lakes. Originally a private family retreat, it was transformed into an exclusive game lodge in 1991, fusing African style with contemporary European comforts.

The lodge contains six suites and one private house. The rooms have huge beds swathed in mosquito netting, comfortable living spaces, and en suites with large tub and indoor/outdoor shower. Each suite has a private lake-view deck and plunge pool, while the Charlsy Suite and Chitwa House have two bedrooms each and a private pool.

Meals are served in the open-air boma or dining room. There’s also a lounge and library, sunset deck, boutique shop, and spa.

All children are welcome at Chitwa Chitwa Lodge with those over six able to join their parents on nature drives. Other activities include guided bush walks, cultural village visits, photo safaris, and a range of children’s activities.

Location & Getting There

Hidden on the shores of one of the largest lakes in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Greater Kruger, Chitwa Chitwa Lodge is a 90-minute flight from Johannesburg or a 35-minute flight from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in South Africa.

Accommodation

Chitwa Chitwa Lodge offers ten suites and one private house. Each of the ten suites are individually designed and have their own plunge pool on the private timber sun-deck overlooking the lake, a prime game viewing spot. Chitwa Private House consists of two interlinking rooms joined by a comfortable living area, a spacious lake view deck and a swimming pool, catering for the ultimate exclusive experience where guests are treated with great hospitality, fine food and the perfect bush experience.

Activities

Game drives, children’s programs and cultural excursions to the local village of Dixie are all included in the room rates. Spa treatments are charged additionally. Guests can go on bush walks accompanied by passionate and very experienced guides and the evening safaris end with a sundowner, the perfect time to reflect on a great day's game viewing.

Children

Children are welcome at Chitwa Chitwa Lodge but there are no specific facilities except babysitting. The Chitwa Children's Eco-Experience offers activities such as daily bush walks within the enclosed camp area, basic bush skills lessons, face painting sessions and marshmallow evenings.
