Francis Mallman
Celebrities clamour to have this alfresco chef stoke their barbecues. From film director Guy Ritchie to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, everyone has fallen in love with the man who leaves other barbecue chefs in the shade. Think sugar, peaches and figs cooked in a pan over flames, to rib eye cooked slowly on a string that he dangles over the fire. He now has nine restaurants throughout the world where you can enjoy his primal cooking. Book into Chateau la Coste to find one of his latest restaurants hidden among its vineyards.
Salt Bae
Nusret Gökçe or Salt Bae as he is known to his fans, captivated the internet with his showmanship in the kitchen. But rather than rest on his meme laurels, the Turkish butcher launched restaurants in Dubai and New York. He now has 13 restaurants around the world, and counts Leonardo di Caprio and P Diddy among some of his diners. Who knew that by sprinkling salt in a cobra-style pose over a mustard soaked rib eye could be so effective.
Heston Blumenthal
The Willie Wonka of chefs is about to open his latest eatery Dinner at Royal Atlantis on the Palm in Dubai. His world of imagination runs to nitrogen ice carts, meat dishes that look like tangerines and snail porridge. Dining at a Blumenthal restaurant is a multi-sensory experience. He is the king of flavour combinations – salmon and liquorice anyone? And he even made a bacon butty that could be enjoyed in space.
