Hotel Antumalal

Chilean Lake District

Set in lush, private gardens on the shores of Lake Villarrica, Hotel Antumalal offers a tranquil stay in the Lake District. Its location at the base of Villarrica Volcano hasn’t deterred such esteemed guests as Queen Elizabeth II and Neil Armstrong.

This Bauhaus-style building features wood-paneled rooms and suites, while chalets and a villa also dot the grounds. Fireplaces and handmade Mapuche rugs and throws give a welcoming feel, and large picture windows offer spectacular views.

The restaurant serves traditional Chilean and Patagonian dishes paired with excellent local wines.

The hotel offers a range of activities from hiking, biking, and horseback riding, to volcano ascents, husky tours, and skiing excursions. You can also bathe in hot springs, learn about the Mapuche culture, or see the local wildlife. After a day’s adventuring, relax in Spa Antumaco, before swapping stories over a pisco sour in the bar.
