One&Only Moonlight Basin

United States of America

Set within a vast wildland corridor in Big Sky Montana, USA, One&Only Moonlight Basin spans 240 acres on the edge of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Surrounded by forests, meadows and alpine lakes, the resort blends into its natural setting with low-profile, lodge-style buildings designed by Olson Kundig. A dedicated Sky Lodge connects directly to Big Sky Resort’s 5,800+ skiable acres via private gondola. Over 60% of the land is preserved as open space, reflecting the resort’s commitment to a light environmental footprint.

Accommodation

The resort comprises 73 rooms and suites and 19 standalone cabins, all offering fireplaces, soaking tubs and floor to ceiling windows framing Lone Peak. For families or groups, 62 private homes and 8 estate lots provide expansive, secluded retreats.

Food and Drink

Dining at One&Only Moonlight Basin is a celebration of alpine flavour and regional character. The Landing, located in the Sky Lodge, offers panoramic views and après-ski charm. Wildwood showcases seasonal, locally inspired fare, while Dear Josephine Lounge channels the spirit of Montana with copper tones and fireside ambience. Guests seeking something more intimate can retreat to Moon Shack (also referred to as Moonrise or the Whiskey Shack), a hidden bar with rare whiskies and a warm, rustic atmosphere. For an international twist, Akira Back serves elevated Japanese steakhouse cuisine. An additional lounge bar completes the resort’s six distinct culinary venues.

Experiences

In winter: guests enjoy ski in access, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, dogsledding, ice fishing and guided Yellowstone excursions. In summer: horseback riding, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and golf at The Reserve, a Jack Nicklaus–designed course. Children have their own adventures at the KidsOnly club.

Children

The KidsOnly Club offers age appropriate programming; interconnecting rooms, cabins and private homes ensure flexible, family friendly stays.

Sustainability

Built with minimal land disturbance and modular methods, One&Only Moonlight Basin integrates seamlessly into the landscape. The resort conserves its ecosystem corridor, sources food seasonally, uses efficient lighting and employs guides trained to interpret and protect the local environment.

How to Get There

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is 50 miles away (45 minutes by road). Private transfers deliver guests to resort grounds, and in winter the Sky Lodge gondola links to Big Sky Resort’s base area.
