DubaiAl Maha Resort & Spa is a splendid desert retreat some 65km southeast of Dubai carrying an ‘old Arabia’ theme throughout the rooms in a building that is modelled on an old fortress.
The 42 rooms are in the form of stand-alone ‘tents’ featuring sublime furnishings and authentic Arabian and Bedouin ornaments such as wooden chests, Arabian antiques, and Oriental carpets. Each suite features its own private pool on the veranda; perfect for when you return from wildlife drives or a sunset camel ride (complete with strawberries and champagne served atop the dunes by waiters). The royal suites have private lounges, marble bathrooms and vast windows in the living area.
Al Maha is on a full board basis with activities included in the room rate, meaning that guests can really make the most of the property. Dine on the finest Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine and wines, and savour the sunset over the desert as you sip sundowners on the Terrace Bar.
