Wa Ale Resort

Coastal Myanmar

Wa Ale Island Resort raised the bar for barefoot eco-chic when it opened in Lampi Marine National Park, an ASEAN Marine Heritage site off the western shores of Southern Myanmar, in October 2018. Set on pristine white-sand and flanked by rocky cliffs, this is a nature lover’s paradise.

The resort comprises 11 family-sized tented beach villas and three plush treetop villas that boast a boho-feel of wood, bamboo furniture and quirky patterns complimented by ocean views, outdoor showers and private decks. A huge thumbs up goes to the use of reclaimed and local materials and alternative sources of energy for power so there’s minimal impact on the environment.

Beach Restaurant & Bar is a cool thatched open-air area, while River Café & Bar offers light lunches and barbeque dinners.

There are plenty activities at Wa Ale Resort for all. Discover whale sharks, dolphins, dugongs, turtles and manta rays. Paddle board or kayak through the mangroves, and immerse yourself in local culture with a visit to a local Moken fishing community.

Why we recommend Wa Ale Resort

This luxurious private island resort may not be easy to get to - guests enjoy a fabulous three-hour private yacht ride to reach it – but the journey to Wa Ale Resort in Myanmar is well worth it. Surrounded by staggering natural beauty, guests stay in rooms that are more like luxury safari tents than conventional hotel rooms, located right next to the lapping ocean. Even better, stay at Wa Ale Island Resort and a portion of profits go directly into supporting local conservation projects and the local community.
