Yunnan

Yunnan Province is located in China's far southwest and borders Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. It is China's most biologically and culturally diverse province and is full of snow-capped mountains, grassy plains, and gushing rivers.

The province is full of charming little towns such as Dali, Lijiang and the majestic Shangri La. Spend a day strolling through the little streets, picking up a few souvenirs, and sampling the local food – Yunnan cuisine is famous for its huge assortment of vegetables, mushrooms and even yak cheese! But it’s when you get out of these towns that you really start to appreciate the incredible natural beauty of this province. Picture soaring mountains, the famous Tiger Leaping Gorge, Tibetan prayer flags waving over stupas dotted around the plains – this really is one of our favourite places in China.

The choice of accommodation in Yunnan is as stunning as its scenery with the exclusive Banyan Tree Lijiang and Ringha, and the Songstam lodges. Lightfoot Travel can organise an amazing trekking holiday through this province, stopping at these amazing boutique properties along the way. Because come on, after hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge or Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you deserve a little luxury!
