Richard's Camp

Maasai Mara & Southern Kenya

Tucked on the banks of the Njageteck River in the private Olare Orok Conservancy, Richard’s River Camp is an intimate camp in the heart of Kenya's Maasai Mara. The exclusive retreat is renowned for its traditional African hospitality, understated luxury, and the pride of resident lions that often hunts directly in front of camp.

Decorated in comfortable safari style with traditional furnishings, art, antiques and fabrics, the seven tents are set on raised platforms and dotted along the river. All have en suites with flush toilets and hot showers, while solar energy ensures there’s power 24 hours a day.

Evening meals are served outside on candlelit tables. The food is traditional African fare, complemented by wines and beers.

Activities at Richard’s River Camp include day and night game drives, guided bush walks, birdwatching, and cultural village visits. Guests can also opt for scenic flights and hot air balloon rides over the vast plains.

Why we recommend Richard's Camp

Drawing a constant stream if game, Richard’s River Camp in Kenya's Maasai Mara is a delightful stay. It’s laid back and friendly and there are nice personal touches everywhere such as water bottles in the rooms, and hammocks and pillow chairs for maximum comfort. We like that the tents are spread out and specious for maximum comfort, and the outdoor hot water showers are quite a treat!
