Croatia is wonderful in October as the sun dances across the picturesque lakes, yacht-filled harbours, dense forests and UNESCO-listed towns. Zagreb is one of the great central European capitals, while the medieval town of Dubrovnik is utterly beautiful. The old walls of Split house the Diocletian’s Palace alongside swish bars and restaurants.

The Kingdom of Bhutan is synonymous with peace, a rooted culture and happiness (the country tops the Gross National Happy Index). October is a great time to visit China. Its cities such as Shanghai and Beijing have cooled down considerably, but it’s well before the unforgiving winters roll in. Our favourite province of Yunnan, with towns such as Lijiang and Shangri La, is beautiful, with cool air and clear skies.

A land of beauty and wilderness, Oman is an increasingly popular destination. Where to start in South Africa? Fly into vibrant Cape Town, South Africa’s most popular city packed with dining options, quality wine and endless activities.
