Luxury Hotels Opening in 2026

Written by Lightfoot Travel

Where to check in to next: the world’s most anticipated luxury hotel openings of 2026, from remote retreats to grand returns.

As 2026 approaches, a new wave of luxury hotel openings is reshaping the travel landscape. From conservation-led safari lodges to restored European icons and next-generation wellness escapes, these new luxury hotels reflect the intentional, experience-rich travel Lightfoot sees defining the year ahead. Here are some unmissable new hotels opening in 2026.

Erebero Hills, Uganda ~ Opening June 2026

Set on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Erebero Hills introduces an intimate option for safari travel to Uganda’s premier gorilla-tracking region. Aptly named, as Erebero means “a place where you can see far”, the property will have eight forest-view suites with private decks and panoramic views of the surrounding montane landscape.  The lodge is being built on about 45 acres of reforested land adjacent to the forest, where they have already begun planting indigenous trees as part of a broader initiative to reforest a surrounding buffer zone. Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to over half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, and gorilla trekking will be a principal activity for guests. Its 2026 debut will offer travellers a quieter place to settle between treks, with the forest’s scale and stillness just beyond each suite.

Aman Karingani, Mozambique ~ Opening 2026

Aman’s first safari retreat in Africa will open within the 150,000-hectare Karingani Game Reserve in southern Mozambique, a conservation landscape adjoining Kruger National Park. The project will introduce 30 standalone pavilions with private pools, plus three- to six-bedroom branded residences, arranged around a central lodge with dining spaces, an outdoor pool and an Aman Spa. Early materials describe a low-impact design approach shaped around the reserve’s varied ecosystems. As Aman expands its footprint on the continent, Karingani offers a new entry point into one of southern Africa’s emerging conservation areas.

Belmond will reopen Villa San Michele in April 2026 following an extensive renovation led by Luigi Fragola Architects. Set on the hillside of Fiesole, the property occupies a former 15th-century monastery with a façade attributed to Michelangelo, overlooking Florence and its surrounding valleys. The refreshed design retains the Renaissance architecture and terraced gardens while updating the interior. The reopening will also introduce renewed programming connected to Florence’s cultural calendar. As Villa San Michele enters its next chapter, the reopening offers a refined take on the villa’s monastic charm and spectacular hillside setting.

Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, Venice ~ Opening April 2026

Orient Express will open Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice’s Cannaregio district in April 2026, marking the brand’s second hotel after Orient Express La Minerva in Rome. The property occupies a 15th-century Venetian palazzo, reworked through an eight-year restoration led by architect and interior designer Aline Asmar d’Amman, retaining historic features such as frescoed ceilings and mosaic floors. The hotel will offer 47 rooms, suites and apartments overlooking the palace gardens and nearby canals. Public spaces include fine-dining and all-day venues, a courtyard and the Wagon Bar, a nod to the brand’s railway heritage. Its opening extends Orient Express’s expansion into Italian hospitality and introduces a contemporary interpretation of the palazzo’s classical heritage.

Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch, London ~ Opening Spring 2026

The conversion of Admiralty Arch into a Waldorf Astoria marks a notable shift for London’s hotel landscape, bringing contemporary refinement into one of the city’s most historically symbolic buildings. Set at the gateway between Trafalgar Square and The Mall, the hotel introduces around 100 rooms and suites within the arch’s Grade I-listed structure, balancing preserved neoclassical detail with a quieter, residential interior language. The hotel boasts two signature restaurants by Michelin-starred chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud, rooftop and ground-floor dining, and a ballroom designed for larger events. A distinctive new option in central London, pairing historic architecture with contemporary design.

Six Senses London ~ Opening Early 2026

Set to open in early 2026, Six Senses London will mark the brand’s UK debut within the restored Whiteley building in Bayswater. The redevelopment combines the heritage façade with new interiors designed by AvroKO and EPR Architects, creating 109 rooms and suites shaped around light, texture and calm. A large Six Senses Spa, a magnesium pool and Six Senses Place, the brand’s social and wellness club, anchor the property’s focus on restorative urban living. As the Whiteley reopens after its long redevelopment, Six Senses introduces a quieter, wellbeing-led interpretation of hospitality to this part of West London.

Zannier Hotels Île de Bendor, France ~ Opening May 1st 2026

The project will introduce 93 rooms and suites arranged as a village-style ensemble, along with a beach club, several dining spaces, a holistic wellness centre, and an artisan quarter showcasing local craft. The redesign aims to preserve the island’s mid-century spirit while updating its layout and infrastructure. Its reopening offers a renewed way for guests to experience this historically private Provençal island.

COMO Le Beauvallon, St Tropez ~ Opening April 24th 2026

The redevelopment preserves the historic architecture while introducing updated interiors, wellness facilities and landscaped outdoor areas across its 10-acre grounds. The estate will offer views across the bay toward St Tropez, with direct access to the waterfront. Its reopening reintroduces one of the region’s few grand historic estates offering privacy at scale.

Dream of the Desert Train, Saudi Arabia ~ Opening Late 2026

Launching in late 2026, Dream of the Desert will introduce a new way of travelling across Saudi Arabia’s interior, carrying guests through stretches of desert, escarpment and heritage landscapes. Designed by Aline Asmar d’Amman, the train’s 14 carriages will include around 31 suites shaped by regional craft traditions and desert-inspired materials, alongside lounge and dining cars arranged for unhurried travel. Large windows frame the changing terrain, creating a journey that shifts between stillness indoors and vast, open views outside. As one of the region’s first luxury rail experiences, it offers exceptional views and a slower rhythm for crossing Saudi Arabia’s long desert corridors.

The Malkai, Oman ~ Opening Autumn 2026

Opening in Autumn, The Malkai will bring a new retreat to Oman’s interior landscapes, set between desert plateau and mountain peaks. Developed as a low-rise, horizon-focused property, the resort’s architecture prioritises long sightlines, privacy and natural materials shaped by the surrounding terrain. Suites will feature open layouts, quiet terraces and muted palettes designed to capture shifting light across the valley. Communal areas, pools and dining spaces follow the same style, favouring wide views over ornamental detail. As Oman continues to develop retreats shaped by landscape rather than spectacle, The Malkai offers a calm, design-led base for exploring the region’s dramatic setting.
