Covering 500 acres, it offers infinite options for activities upon its own grounds. Head off on hiking trails past wild deer and turkeys, play golf, or try out one of the tennis courts. For children, there’s the River Ranch Camp and day-care. Three sun-drenched salt-water swimming pools, a family pool, equestrian center, spa, and fitness center add to the facilities.

The 139 suites are furnished in an earthy, natural style, and come with private decks overlooking the forest or valley.

Much needed after a busy day isn the Lodge restaurant, River Ranch café, and refreshment selection at the Golf Clubhouse. Produce is locally sourced from the Monterey Coast and cooking demonstrations can be arranged. There’s also a sustainable four-acre pinot noir vineyard, year-round organic garden, and a world-class bee apiary on-site.
