The main dining venue serves dishes using produce from the hotel’s organic garden, along with gluten-free meal options, fair trade coffee and single estate tea. Guests can also opt to dine al fresco amidst the paddy fields.

Location & Getting There

The hotel is situated just outside Kalundewa village in Sri Lanka’s famed Cultural Triangle. Colombo’s international airport is a four-hour drive (140 km).

Accommodation

Kalundewa Retreat is made up of 2 chalets and a 3-bed bungalow, which can be booked by the room or exclusively. Rooms feature exposed brick walls, wooden sliding doors, chunky steel fittings, luxurious bathrooms and all-modern amenities. Some rooms come with a Jacuzzi.

Activities

These include hiking, swimming in the freshwater spring, scenic walks, bike rides, bird watching, meditation and yoga. The hotel is 1.5 hours by car from the Kaudulla National Park. The Sigiriya Rock fortress and Dambulla cave temples are also worth a visit.

Children

Families are welcome but given the nature of the hotel and its remote location, it is more suited for couples and there are no specific amenities for children.
