Somalisa Expeditions

Designed to replicate the vintage safari camps of a bygone era, Somalisa Expeditions offers one of the most authentic ways to experience the exceptional wildlife haven of Hwange National Park. The camp is perfect for travellers in search of a classic safari adventure. It captures the ambience of a mobile camp but with all the trimmings and contemporary finishes.

All six Meru-style tents are on slightly raised decking to take advantage of the views over the savannah. The camp is beautifully designed while still maintaining an old-world charm and authenticity. All the tents have en-suite bathrooms and in-room charging facilities, and the main area includes a lounge and dining room that overlooks a small elephant pool. Huge herds of elephants come to drink from the pool daily, making up-close encounters and photographic opportunities with these majestic animals endless.

One of the highlights of this camp is the walking safari. This thrilling activity engages all your senses, and you will be accompanied by one of our experienced guides, who will explore the surrounding area on foot with you. Nestled in the heart of Hwange National Park, Somalisa Expeditions is surrounded by a breathtaking grove of Acacias, resting along the fringe of a seasonal floodplain, promising an unforgettable adventure.

Location & Getting There
A 45-minute flight from Victoria Falls International Airport, landing at Manga Airstrip, and a 30-minute game drive transfer to the camp. Alternatively, it's a 4-hour road journey from Victoria Falls to the main gate and a 2-hour game drive transfer to the camp.

Accommodation
Each of the six tents at Somalisa Expeditions features a spacious canvas structure atop a raised wooden deck, with canvas director's chairs on the front veranda for comfortable wildlife viewing.

• Game Drives will be led by one of the experienced guides, who will show you the hidden spots best for game viewing and give you an insider’s knowledge.

• Hwange National Park boasts Zimbabwe's finest birding. Listen to the melodious calls of the racket-tailed roller and kori bustard, capture the majestic Martial eagle on camera, or relax and revel in their beautiful songs.

Children
Children aged six and above are welcome at Somalisa Expeditions. It provides specialist child guides and a variety of activities tailored for children, such as bush walks, spoor identification, and cooking classes.
