Mkombe's House Lamai

Serengeti

Located on Kogakuria Kopje in a game-rich area of the northern Serengeti, Mkombe’s House Lamai is the only self-contained private house in the park. Run by Nomad Tanzania, it’s designed with little children in mind and is named after a former guide who loved teaching kids about the bush.

There are two open-fronted adult rooms, each with an en suite and adjoining secure children’s room. The light, bright rooms are decorated in neutral tones and the en suites have flush toilets and hot showers.

The lodge comes with a private chef who prepares meals according to guests’ preferences using local produce. There’s cake for afternoon tea and three-course meals at night.

The lodge is ideally placed for witnessing thousands of wildebeest cross the Mara River during the Great Migration. Guests also enjoy game drives, children’s safaris, walking safaris and birding, and there are two secure pools for cooling off.

Why we recommend Mkombe's House Lamai

“This is the only exclusive-use house in the Serengeti designed specifically for families with small children. Privacy and safety takes precedence, ensuring that witnessing the Great Migration is enjoyable for all ages. The facilities are excellent for parents with young children, with two fenced off swimming pools available. Staff – a butler, waiter, chef, housekeeper, askari and guide – make sure that your stay is as fuss-free as possible and days are planned to fit around your family routine.”
