Salkantay Lodge

Cusco, Sacred Valley, & Machu Picchu

Located at 12,690 feet, the Salkantay Lodge is the flagship lodge run by Mountain Lodges of Peru. The first of four lodges along the seven-day Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu, it sits on the flatlands of the Rio Blanco with views of the sacred Salkantay Mountain.

The eco-friendly buildings were inspired by traditional Incan building techniques. The lodge has 12 heated rooms with double or twin beds swathed in down comforters, and en suites with hot showers and organic toiletries.

The Salkantay Trail lodges are designed to provide accommodation for trekkers walking the fairly challenging route, and guests usually stay at this base camp for a couple of nights. There’s an outdoor Jacuzzi, along with a reading room, lounge with fireplace, and dining room serving Peruvian-fusion cuisine.

Guests can warm up for the Salkantay Trail by hiking to the summit of Salkantay or to glacial lakes. Other activities include horseback riding and mountain biking.
