Winterlake Lodge

Alaska

Perched on the banks of Finger Lake in the Alaskan wilderness, Winterlake Lodge is an exclusive retreat offering an authentic backcountry experience. One of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World, this former hunting lodge offers outdoor adventures and nature encounters.

Guests stay in six handcrafted lodges, accommodating between two and seven people each. Fitted with handmade furniture and warmed by ceramic heaters and thick duvets, each has a bathroom and private deck with lake views.

The main lodge houses a bar/lounge, wellness room, games area, outdoor hot tub, small library, and dining room serving award-winning Alaskan cuisine. Guests are invited to join daily cooking classes and wine and cheese tastings.

Daily explorations are tailored to guests’ interests, from self-guided kayaking and canoeing trips to hiking, fly-fishing, rafting, and guided helicopter adventures. Winter activities include dog sledding, cross-country skiing, and heli-skiing. All excursions offer wildlife-viewing opportunities, including brown bears, moose, bald eagles, beavers, wolves, and caribou.
