Flame of the Forest

Central India

Named after the vibrant Indian tree, Flame of the Forest is a safari lodge on the banks of the River Banjar. Located close to the Kanha National Park – one of India’s prime tiger reserves – it offers a tranquil base to discover India’s wildlife.

The lodge has four cottages, each with their own courtyards and verandas. Built from mud and thatch, they feature elegant interiors, daybeds overlooking the wilderness, and en suites with indoor-outdoor showers. The cottages are connected to the main lodge via a network of paths and bridges.

The restaurant serves traditional Indian cuisine. They accommodate vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets, and adjust the spice levels according to guests’ preferences.

Jeep safaris into the Kanha National Park in search of Royal Bengal tigers are the main attraction, and there’s a fascinating array of flora, fauna and birds to spot too. There’s also a yoga space, and opportunities to explore tribal villages and markets.

Why we recommend Flame of the Forest

This premier safari lodge occupies a peaceful setting on the banks of Banjaar River, so it’s the perfect hideaway for nature enthusiasts. Naturally constructed, the property brings a sense of peace and authenticity, as do the yoga and Ayurvedic spa treatments which can be enjoyed after a morning game drive. The restaurant serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare, so no one goes hungry.
