Six Senses Thimphu

Paro, Thimphu & Punakha

Six Senses Bhutan is a collection of five intimate lodges set in the western and central valleys of Bhutan, each offering its own character, environment and experiences. With 82 suites and villas spread across five resorts, they’re designed to guide visitors on a journey through the Happiest Place on Earth.

Opening in Spring 2019, Six Senses Thimphu is influenced by traditional dzong architecture, hence its nickname ‘the Palace in the Sky’. Perched on a hill overlooking the Thimphu Valley and monumental Buddha Dordenma statue, the lodge blends tradition with culture, with handcrafted artefacts juxtaposed against wood panelling, whitewashed walls and natural stone features.

Outside, the building is partly surrounded by reflecting pools and there’s a prayer pavilion facing the Buddha statue. There’s an onsite restaurant and spa with traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath.

Enjoy a guided tour of Thimphu, head to Buddha Point, receive a blessing from the Six Senses monk at prayer pavilion, and discover local handicrafts and culture

Why we recommend Six Senses Thimphu

Six Senses Thimphu, Bhutan

"Six Senses Thimphu has one of the best views out of any hotel in the Thimphuvalley. Looking out to Buddha point, it really is a breath taking introducing to the country as Thimphu is often the first stop on your itinerary. The capital is also known for its barking dogs problem at night (the stray dogs in Bhutan are adorable but very yappy!), and being so far above the city means you can enjoy a peaceful nights’ sleep."
