South IcelandLocated along a dramatic stretch of black sand beach on Iceland’s south coast, UMI Hotel sits at the base of the famous Eyjafjallajökul volcano. The building blends into the surrounding granite cliffs and windswept heath, but inside this hotel are filled with warmth.
The 28 light-filled rooms are simple but comfortable. Inspired by nature, they feature wooden furniture and warm woolen blankets. The large windows overlook the mountain or sea.
The restaurant serves traditional Icelandic cuisine, produced from local ingredients and complemented by views of the Westman Islands and the southern coast. There’s also a bar with a fireplace.
