Travel through the vibrant and buzzing cities of Sydney and Melbourne paired with the gorgeous remoteness of Tasmania. Meet friendly locals eager to showcase their country, drive through amazing coastlines, enjoy special private dining and experiences, and get up close with native Australian wildlife.

Day 1

Arrival Sydney

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be met by a representative and privately escorted to your accommodation.

The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure.

Sydney

Enjoy a full day of touring this buzzing metropolis with your guide.

Explore the historic Rocks area and the Sydney Opera House, visit Macquarie Street for an insight to Sydney’s colonial days, and marvel at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

After lunch you’ll head on a private cruise to witness the best of Sydney from the beautiful Harbour.

Sydney

Today will be spent at leisure to soak up Sydney on your own.

Attend a performance or a behind-the-scenes tour at the Sydney Opera House, take a seaplane flight over Sydney Harbour, browse one of the weekend markets, or join the locals for a coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte Beach. Your Travel Designer can recommend activities prior to departure.

Sydney

This morning you’ll be transferred to Sydney Airport for your flight to Launceston. Upon arrival, you’ll collect your rental car and drive to Relbia Lodge where you have the rest of the day at leisure until dinner.

Launceston

Start the day with a “multi-sensual” nature and wildlife experience – see, feel and smell, taste and hear Tasmania!

You’ll begin at Trowunna Wildlife Park, home to a wide range of native animals and dedicated to caring for injured and orphaned wildlife. Expect to see the famous Tasmanian devil, wombats and kangaroos.

After a traditional bush tucker lunch, you’ll go in search of possums, wombats, kangaroos, wallaby, bettong and bandicoot before heading back to your lodge.

Launceston to Freycinet Peninsula

Today you’ll drive 2 and a half hours to the Freycinet Peninsula.

The landscapes here are soft and warm, featuring pink granite mountains, white sand beaches, grey-green casuarinas and blue sapphire seawater.

Your accommodation for the next few nights overlooks the wide expanses of Great Oyster Bay, where migrating whales and dolphins come to play.

Freycinet Peninsula

Today’s activities are your choice.

Experience the contrasts between wetland ecology and the massive life of the Tasman Sea on a quad bike excursion, slip on waders and journey into the secret life of oysters and mussels, take a guided bush walk or go mountain biking.

In-between activities, head chef, Hugh Whitehouse, will serve dishes to suit your palette, from campfire dining to multi-course degustation menus expertly matched with wines.

Day 8
Freycinet Peninsula – Hobart

This morning you’ll drive for 2 and a half hours to Hobart, a city defined by the river and sea.

After settling into your accommodation, take a harbour cruise or wander along the 19th century waterfront which is home to charming cafes and restaurants.

Hobart

Spend the day at leisure.

Drive to the summit of Mt Wellington for views of the city and the south-western wilderness. Browse the second-hand and antiquarian bookshops, antiques shops and distilleries. Explore the old city centre which contains some of the best remaining colonial and convict era architecture in Australia. Spend a day in the Derwent Valley, take a walk in beautiful Mt. Field National Park and visit the Russell Falls.

Hobart to Melbourne

Today you’ll drive to Hobart Airport and drop off your hire car in time for your flight to Melbourne.

Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel in the heart of Melbourne with spectacular city or Yarra River views.

Melbourne - Grand Hyatt Melbourne

You’ll have the day at leisure.

In the evening, you’ll head on an After Dark Tour with a private guide to the Golden Mile, St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Shrine of Remembrance in the Botanic Gardens and the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.

Melbourne

As the style capital of Australia, Melbourne is best discovered with a local.

This morning you’ll enjoy a half day walking tour to discover the city’s contemporary maze of designer boutiques, quirky galleries, historical lanes and arcades.

In the afternoon, it’s time to go shopping!

Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
