Rwanda Primate Experience
Rwanda is one of the places where you can observe imposing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Being a protected species, there are less than 1,000 left in the wild, and to come across them is a truly unique experience.

Day 1
Arrival Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you’ll be escorted by car to your accommodation in Kigali.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.

Day 2
Kigali – Nyungwe Forest Reserve
You’ll be transferred by car to the Nyungwe Forest Reserve in the southwest of the country. Along the way, observe traditional Rwandan daily life in the villages.
Check into your lodge and stroll through the forest, watching for native flora, fauna, and birdlife.

Day 3
Nyungwe Forest Reserve
Today you have the opportunity to go chimpanzee trekking through the forest. Observe wild chimpanzees swinging through the canopy and witness their noisy social interactions.

Day 4
Nyungwe Forest Reserve – Kigali
Transfer back to Kigali for one night, where you can indulge in a spa treatment at your hotel or head out to explore the city.

Day 5
Kigali - Lake Kivu
After breakfast you’ll be transferred to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s great lakes. Laze on the beautiful beaches, take a boat trip on the lake, or enjoy sundowners with a view.

Day 6
Lake Kivu – Volcanoes National Park
Depart Lake Kivu and head to the Volcanoes National Park for the highlight of your trip. Check into your lodge and enjoy an afternoon at leisure.

Day 7
Volcanoes National Park
Over the next two days you’ll experience one of the most thrilling wildlife adventures in Africa – the opportunity to witness mountain gorillas in the wild. On both days, you’ll head out with an experienced guide to explore the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes in search of these gentle apes.
Tracking can take a full day but it will all be worth it when you spend an hour in the company of wild mountain gorillas.

Day 8
Volcanoes National Park
Continue to go in search of gentle apes at Volcanoes National Park with your experienced guide.

Day 9
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
