Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal after Kathmandu, and one of the country's most popular tourist destinations.
Three out of the ten highest mountains in the world (Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu) are located less than 30 miles away from the city, resulting in a dramatically beautiful northern skyline. Pokhara is also very close to the Annapurna mountain range, and serves as a base for trekkers and mountain climbers making their way to the Annapurna Circuit.
Annapurna is often translated as Goddess of the Harvests in Sanskrit, and is a 55 kilometre-long section of the Himalayas. This circuit is extremely popular, and the Annapurna Conservation Area is the first and largest conservation area in Nepal.
