Siargao Island, Philippines
Not far from the legendary Cloud 9 surf break on the remote island of Siargao, lies Dedon Island, a luxury boutique-style retreat that nestles between mangrove forests, and the white sands and crystal clear waters of the sea.
A palm-fringed paradise in the Philippines, naturally sheltered from the tropical wilderness all around it, this enchanting resort portrays barefoot luxury at is best. The emphasis is on outdoor living and sustainability, and the resort cleverly blends traditional architecture, cutting edge design and the natural surroundings. To keep things simple, it’s all-inclusive.
Nine large and stylish thatched villas are dotted across manicured gardens within the four-acre property. Each has been built using recycled wood and features an open shower, large veranda and contemporary interiors. The two storey deluxe villas are ideal for families.
Dining is a highlight at Dedon Island. There is no set menu, instead simple but delicious dishes are prepared according to the fresh produce of the day.
Dedon Island is a place to relax and rejuvenate. Laze by the pool or lounge around in quirky hanging pods scattered throughout the property. There’s an outdoor bar, a trampoline, which is a hit with children, and two pagodas, one in the mangroves and one in the sea. On some nights, the pool area is transformed into an enchanting open-air cinema. A massage at the outdoor spa pavilion is a must. You can also have a cooking lesson from the resident chef.
More strenuous activities might include a motorcycle taxi ride to one of the small fishing villages, a visit to Cloud 9 or a surf lesson. The Island is also renowned for deep-sea fishing as it is close one of the world’s deepest trenches.
