Thalpe, Sri Lanka
Located in Thalpe, just south of Galle, Auraliya is an exceptional 6-bedroom villa tailored towards luxury family getaways. Set on the idyllic Palatugaha Beach which offers a stunning, unspoilt coral lagoon and some of the safest year-round swimming and snorkelling on the South coast.
The name Auraliya conveys the spirit of the elephant, or ‘Aliya’ in Sinhalese, and ‘Araliya’, the frangipani. The Buddha looking down on Ganesh in the front courtyard, and the elephant head spout in the beach-side pond are just a number of cultural pieces representative of India where they originated from.
With the reef-protected beach set a short distance from the villa, water and beach activities are limitless. Sand castles, body boarding, surfing and swimming will keep all the family entertained for hours in the sun. The large garden also provides a virtual playground for games of cricket and football. Whale and dolphin-watching trips can also be arranged from the beaches further South.
The villa, surrounded by coconut palms and frangipani trees, is designed like a courtyard with high ceilings and an exquisite white terrazo finish. Structured around three pavilions, there are six spacious double bedrooms bordering a deep turquoise swimming pool with twinkling stars at night.
