This 9-day trip will encompass several of the best Sri Lankan highlights. Begin your trip with a stop in Colombo to explore the city and nearby beaches. Next you will go to the inland hill region to spend some time in the scenic and comfortable Tea Trail valley. The cool weather of the Bogawantalawa Valley is a welcome comfort before making your way to the beaches of Galle, where you will be able to enjoy the Hiyare Rainforest, go whale-watching, and relax on the beautiful beach.

Day 1: Arrival into Colombo

Upon arrival in Colombo, you will be met by a hotel representative and transferred to your hotel by private car. Built over 200 years ago in the traditional Dutch style, The Wallawwa combines old and new concepts in chic Sri Lankan style. You will be in an ideal location to explore the hustle and bustle of Colombo, or the nearby beaches of Negombo. This luxury private hideaway is the perfect start, middle or endpoint of any visit to the enchanting island of Sri Lanka.

Today you can take some free time to relax in The Wallawwa’s natural setting by the garden or pool. If you are looking for an opportunity to experience the Sri Lankan city culture, take a wander into Colombo and get lost in the maze of city streets, temples and markets. After a long day in the city, return to The Wallawwa to indulge in a relaxing massage at the ‘Z’ Spa.

Day 2: Colombo to Hill Country

In the morning you will board the 1st class observation deck on a train to Hatton, where you will be met and transferred to the Tea Trails. Located in the magical solitude of Sri Lanka’s prime tea land, these beautiful plantation bungalows offer high tea and exquisite service amongst the rejuvenating hills of the Bogawantalawa Valley. These historic houses have been restored to offer guests the unique experience of life on a working tea estate.

Day 3 - 4: Exploring Hill Country

For the next 2 days, take time to absorb the beautiful natural scenery and embrace the surrounding countryside of Sri Lanka’s Hill Country. The opportunities to explore the tea plantations are plentiful and the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding valleys and hills make it an unparalleled biking, hiking or walking experience. You can also take a visit to the local Ceylon tea factory where you can observe the process of tea manufacturing and gain a greater understanding of the industry that helped build this beautiful area.

Day 5: Hill Country - Galle

After breakfast and check out, your driver will transfer you by private vehicle to Galle. Once in Galle, you will be staying in the stylish Frangipani Tree boutique hotel located next to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Set at the edge of a secluded beach in the fishing village of Thalpe near Galle, the Frangipani Tree is a tranquil and luxurious oasis. Take the rest of the day to settle into your room and relax on the beautiful beach. In the evening you can enjoy delicious dinner of freshly caught seafood and Sri Lankan curry.

Day 6-8: Galle explorations

Over the next 4 days, you will have the chance to take in all of the sights and sounds around Galle. The location of the Frangipani Tree will give you easy access to several pristine local beaches, the lush Hiyare Rainforest, historic Galle Fort walk tour, and even morning whale watching in Mirissa. The options are extensive and whether you want to experience local culture, adventure, history, or just relaxation, you will be happily occupied throughout your time around Galle.

Day 9: Departure

Today after a late check out you will be transferred by private car to Colombo airport. Enjoy a dinner at The Wallawwa before heading to the airport in time to catch your departing flight.
