Day 4: Rotorua

Your 3 hour guided eco-adventure excursion through the evergreen native forests of the Mamaku Plateau begins after breakfast.

The journey traverses a 1.2 km network of ziplines (flying foxes) walking trails, suspended bridges and treetop platforms up to 22 metres above ground. This is your chance to witness one of the North Island’s last remaining remnants of untouched forest. See centuries old giant trees, monster ferns, perching plants, and bird species unlike any other.

Along the way the guides will bring the forest to life as you learn about its history, inhabitants and the conservation dream driving it all.

The highlight for many is the jaw dropping 220 metre “Tui Song” zipline where you step out of the canopy of a 500 year old Rimu tree and fly over a long forgotten valley deep into the forest beyond.

Stay: Wildwood Lodge

Day 5: Rotorua - Taupo

After breakfast we’ll continue driving for approximately 2 hours to the scenic Taharua Valley and to your accommodation.

Stay: Poronui

Day 6: Taupo

Today you’ll experience some of the most diverse, beautiful and unspoilt landscape in New Zealand on a guided walk to the remote corners of Poronui Lodge.

The 6,000 acres of virgin beach forest is a haven for endangered species such as native mistletoe, bush falcons and the Kaka, a New Zealand parrot. For photographers, there’s the opportunity to ‘hunt’ deer with your lens.

The cruise itinerary is flexible so if there’s something you’d specifically like to see – like dolphins riding the bow wave or New Zealand fur seals fishing – just say. Similarly, let us know if there’s a particular bay you want visit or park you want to check out.

We’ll stop for a leisurely lunch of fresh local ingredients, washed down with local beer and wine, and give you a chance to have a swim or snorkel.

At 4pm we’ll return to your accommodation.
